My name is Brendan and I am the creator of Mastering Tricking. I love Tricking because I have seen the progressive effect it has had on the lives of those around me. I want to grow the sport of tricking by providing high quality educational content to those in the Tricking community. I share my knowledge and pass on the tips that have helped me progress and grow. Here, I share information about who I am and how I ended up in the position of Mastering Tricking.
How long have you been Tricking?
In a way, I’ve been Tricking my entire life. I was essentially raised in a gym because my mother was an elite gymnastics coach during my childhood. When I was very young, my parents enrolled me in Taekwondo and I spent eight years of my life in a competitive martial arts environment. Eventually, I found Tricking and adapted to it quickly because of my acrobatic and martial art experience. That said, I’ve been specifically Tricking for about seven years.
Where are you from & where do you live?
I grew up in the state of Maryland and I plan to live here the rest of my life. Maryland is in the center of the United State’s East Coast making it good for gathering travel. While my home is in Maryland, I enjoy the experience of travel and find it helpful for my Tricking progression.
Where do you train?
I train wherever I am. Thankfully, Tricking requires no equipment and I can perform calisthenic exercise as long as there is open space. While spring floor is nice, I really enjoy training outside on the grass. If I want a hardcore Tricking session, I will go to the Alternate Routes Gym in White Marsh, Maryland.
How often do you train?
My personal training frequency is largely inconsistent. I usually train an average of 2-4 hours/day, everyday. That said if I am to train 5+ hours in a single day, then I will need a day or two to recover. Due to the physically demanding nature of Tricking, I will often take training breaks to maintain my health and physical fitness. I never train if I am sick, injured, or unwell.
